Cardiff’s Harrison BDP has become increasingly prolific of late. Over the last 12 months he’s released no less than six EPs for the likes of Berg Audio, Shall Not Fade, Lost Palms and Standalone Records. Easy Tiger, his second missive of 2021, sees him return to Phonica Records after an absence of three years. What’s on offer is deep house with a twist. Take opener ‘Easy Tiger’, for example: while it boasts some resplendent Korg M1 organ sounds and warming pads, the beats that sit beneath boast the chunky swing of turn of the millennium UK garage. This hybrid style is explored further on the two-step-goes-breaks-via-deep house flex of ‘RIP Ralph’ and the wilder ‘Snake in the Grass’, while ‘One For The Club’ sounds like early ’90s progressive house with a darkroom twist. – Juno
