As you’d expect, SLOW LIFE founder S Moreira has released more music on the admired imprint than anyone else – though this EP, appropriately titled Where We Left Off, is his first outing on the imprint for three long years. He’s in fine form from the off, wrapping alien-sounding synth motifs, bubbly bass and effects-laden electronics (Kuduro style bleeps included) around a swinging, jazz-flecked breakbeat (‘Brazil’). Those deep space synth motifs – or at least ones from a similar sonic space – come to the fore once more on the chunkier and funkier breakbeat house deepness of ‘Trarp’, while ‘Jungle Bros (Revolution Mix)’ is an even deeper and more spaced-out slab of unearthly broken beat science. To round off an excellent EP, Moreira remixes Pwog’s ‘The Challenge’, encasing a hustling peak-time breakbeat in deep chords, psychedelic sounds and dreamy textures.
