Description
2026 reissue, 2×12″ LP, Rhymesayers Entertainment. Ruby Red vinyl.
A long-delayed reissue of The Ecstatic, the 2009 album that found the former Mos Def rediscovering the mercurial imagination that first came to the fore on Black On Both Sides. A distinguished cast of producers, including Madlib, the late J Dilla, Oh No, Preservation and Chad Hugo, each guides the record towards its own distinctive destination, from the dust-kissed swagger of ‘Supermagic’ to the cosmopolitan sweep of ‘Twilite Speedball’. In other places, the incomparable Slick Rick graces the quietly majestic ‘Auditorium’ with Talib Kweli joining Bey on the thought-provoking ‘History’.
