There’s real musical craft hiding underneath the novelty premise of American gay pornography actor, director and music composer J.D. Slater’s debut, which finds The Raging Stallion Studios co-founder assembling the soundtracks from the first two movies they produced. ‘Seduction’ opens with that unmistakable 90s synthetic pan flute before stretching out into something trance-adjacent, then breaking down into a tasteful jazzy electric piano passage midway through. ‘Running with Scissors’ picks up the pace with crunchy breakbeats and portamento-heavy leads, while ‘Mercy’ and its second movement lean into a bleepy, early-Nightmares-on-Wax sensibility. It’s sleazy by design, but also hypnotic and legitimately well-produced.
