Description
2025, 12″ EP, Multi Culti.
Two years on from his last solo single – on wax, at least – the admirable and reliable Inigo Vontier (real name Juan Jose Navarro Verde) returns to Multi-Culti, who previously released a pair of split EPs featuring his tracks alongside those by fellow leftfield house traveller Thomass Jackson. The Mexican producer begins in typically bold and energy-packed fashion with ‘Acid Cowboy’, where relentless cowbells and mangled vocal samples ride a relentlessly dirty TB-303 acid bassline and a locked-in kick-drum pattern, before reaching for lo-fi bleeps, acid tweaks and rave-igniting stabs on the percussion-rich ‘Bongo Bongo Bongo’. Vontier breaks up the beats a little on the deeper and dreamier (but no less trippy) stomp of ‘Temple of Gold’, before unleashing even more Latin-fired percussion on the darker and denser ‘Selva Pa Ti’.
