2025 reissue, 12″ LP, Rhino Records. Blue vinyl.
Before the worldwide fame, stadium tours and intra-band soap opera, there was this-ten tracks of sun-soaked tension, romantic disarray and unmistakable chemistry from two young artists still working out the edges of their sound. Originally released in 1973, this is the only album Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks made as a duo before joining West Coast multi, million sellers Fleetwood Mac, but its bones hold the blueprint. There’s the glistening melancholy of ‘Crystal’, the wiry stomp of ‘Don’t Let Me Down Again’, the Laurel Canyon sweetness of ‘Crying In The Night’-all shaped by Buckingham’s meticulous arrangements and Nicks’ grainy, magnetic vocals. ‘Frozen Love’ closes things with a seven-minute sweep that feels cinematic in scale, full of layered harmonies and spiralling guitar textures. Reissued here from the original masters and pressed to heavyweight vinyl, it’s a beautifully restored time capsule-equal parts folk-rock classic and prequel to a band that would change everything.
