Indio is an alias of Detroit’s John Beltran, a producer who can do lush ambient, dreamy techno, and plenty in between. His music is well revered amongst those who know and this album is very much part of that legend. It was first put out on CD back in 1999 on Derrick May’s Transmat label and here Subwax Excursions finally press it to two fine slabs of wax for the first time having carefully remastered all the material. It’s the sort of archetypal and timeless techno you always think of when it comes to Detroit – emotionally crushing strings, digital bleeps and mellifluous moonscapes that ride scintillating drums way off to infinity. – Juno
