London’s Phil Bolland, known as Sync 24, finally serves up his much anticipated debut album Inside the Microbeat on Cultivated Electronics. It is a fully formed word of electro, IDM and interplanetary funk that plays out with a cinematic narrative. Some tracks soar to the stars, others get down and dirty in some rotting post-human wasteland. There are what sounds like mangled voices and haunting spirits stitched into the bump n grind of the title track while the likes of ‘Solvent Flavours Revisited’ is a soundtrack to cosmic warfare.
