For nearly three decades, Seattle duo SUNN O))) have refined a practice where amplification alters perception and time stretches under sustained pressure. Recorded at Bear Creek Studios in Woodinville, this duo-only session draws heavily on its surroundings. ‘XXANN’ opens with feedback pinned in place and low tones settling until faint water sounds surface beneath the mass. ‘Mindrolling’ advances through microscopic shifts, its movement registered in density rather than rhythm. ‘Does Anyone Hear Like Venom?’ leans into prolonged resonance, the guitar tones hanging long enough to expose their inner harmonics, and ‘Glory Black’ introduces piano in sparse gestures, each note briefly rebalancing the soundfield. It’s music that rewards close-listening and patience.
