Description
2026, 12″ EP, Freeze Records.
It may not be totally clear when the Todd Terry cuts showcased on this EP were made (some have previously been released digitally), but they sound like the sort of heavy, sweat-soaked, peak-time-ready jams with which he made his name in the late 80s and early 90s. Opener ‘Pulsating’, sees the Freeze Records co-founder wrap creepy synth-strings and early Warp style bleeps around a deep, bounding bassline and seriously jacking drums, while ‘Take That Groove’ makes merry with angular bass, infectious peak-time drums, warehouse-ready stabs and trademark vocal snippets. Over on side B, Seamus Haaji extends and rearranges the Danny Tenaglia/Junior Vasquez style tribal house/dark garage of ‘It’s a Sin’, before Terry drops the insatiably funky, sub-heavy strut of ‘I Need Yuuu’, where lifts from a Sylvester classic catch the ear.
