Nature Boy really knows how to jam out loose impromptu house cuts that are rough, raw but real. These cuts are taken from floppy discs of recordings made in the 90s when the sometime Massive Attack member dropped classics likes Ruff Disco Volume One and two volumes of Necessary Ruffness. ‘Bassline Jumper’ has that twangy, swaggering signature sound with bursts of horn for colour, ‘Your Body’ is a funky jam with busy, textural chords and hissing hi hats and ‘Unaffected’ tugs at the heart with its buried soul samples and chunky, choppy drums. It’s beatdown brilliance that packs a killer punch.
