Italian-in-New York L’oggetto loves an EP series. He made his name via a trilogy of 12″ singles, Musica Da Discoteca, and earlier this year established a new multi-part project: Dance. This is volume two, and like its predecessor it’s an attractive and action-packed affair that draws much inspiration from the halcyon days of Italo-house and New Jersey garage-house in the early 1990s. Opener ‘Seksay Tango’, where restless keyboard organ stabs and spacey motifs ride an acid style bassline and jacking beats, is particularly potent, though the dreamier and even more intergalactic sounding ‘Smoottismi’ runs it close. Flip-side opener ‘Tek’ is a warehouse-ready chunk of late-night hedonism full of minor key rave riffs, whistles and new age house melodies, while ‘Enigmatico’ is a head-nodding, toe-tapping chunk of downtempo house deepness.
