Duster

Duster are arguably the foremost purveyors of slowcore, a genre which persists to this day as one of the most recognisable and difficult-to-nail sounds in rock music, performance-wise. Their self-titled third full album – released in 2018, a full 18 years following the album that made them famous, ‘Contemporary Movement’ – it heard the band update their sound with cleaner recordings, and something of sheer, gnarly quality. With that, it defied expectations beyond what most emo bands do when they make a rehashy comeback album (ahem, looking at you, American Football). Weird spaceship sounds, textures and tremolos underlie this loomy droner of an LP.
