Back in 2004, The Orb bridged their pioneering ambient house roots with the electronic sounds of its time. It became another much-loved LP from Alex Paterson’s project and new gets a long overdue reissue for Record Store Day. Featuring collaborators like Thomas Fehlmann and original Orb member Jimmy Cauty, there are dub textures, trip-hop moods and drum & bass influences all worked into a characteristically playful, free-form journey. This limited edition double LP comes with an added bonus track and even two decades on, the group’s unique musical charm and love of eccentric, immersive sounds hasn’t diminished. Because they were so unconcerned with trends, this classic has aged well and is well worth rehearing or discovering for the first time.
