Description
2026 reissue, 12″ LP, Verve Records/UMG.
By 1968, Rio de Janeiro songwriter Marcos Valle had already found success at home, but this Verve release positions him within a broader and more polished frame. Working with American producers and arrangements by Eumir Deodato, the record places his light, melodic writing inside a studio sound built for international ears. ‘So Nice (Summer Samba)’ moves with an easy glide, Valle’s voice sitting neatly against strings and brass that never crowd the rhythm. ‘Chup Chup, I Got Away’ follows a similar line, its phrasing clipped and precise, each element held in careful balance. If bossa nova thrives on restraint, this is the sound of it dressed for export.
