This is Two Door Cinema Club at their indie guitar peak before they started to camouflage that identity. It fits in in terms of its direct, hard-hitting yet dreamy melodic nature alongside the likes of Foals, Bombay Bicycle Club and Metronomy, who were also tearing up the UK indie scene at the time. The band married direct, catchy angular guitar riffs with a penchant for propulsive grooves that could make you throw your arms around the person in the crowd next to you and bounce until your knees give in. Among the highlights is ‘What You Know’ since it combines nostalgic sentiment with futureproof quality. It’s capable of lighting up an indie disco dancefloor today with such ease it would be like taking a match to a petrol station floor.
